I watched Superman Vs Doomsday (cartoon) yesterday and 90 percent of the city ends up destroyed. Nobody cares about collateral damage unless they are crying about Snyder.

That’s because it usually just happens, whereas with Snyder’s superman he actively makes a choice for it to happen like in OP’s webm

Because Snyder at least pays lip service to physics and realism. Even if Superman stopped part of the truck (like grabbing the bumper), the metal would break and the other parts are still going to keep moving and explode. A truck isn't one solid piece of metal. It's hundreds of pieces bolted and welded together. It's going to crumble, bend, and break apart.

Notice how Gunn's version just randomly has a Monster appear in the middle of the city with no sign of how it got there? There's no trail of destruction. Nothing is destroyed underneath the monster. Like a computer just magically copy pasted the monster in the middle of the city. Then it falls backward. And even if Superman pushed the monster, a monster of that size wouldn't immediately stop like that. There's still momentum and other parts of the monster smashing into buildings. You ever try stopping someone who is already tumbling backwards with just one finger? It doesn't work. Same idea.

This was literally shown in the movie

People actually think that a 200.000 ton monster can just stand on the street without sinking in?

>kills regular humans with his heat vision
They are all still moving after being hit by his heat vision and then falling to the ground, he obviously reduced the intensity to be non lethal

Stories always have to ignore some reality, the worse part for me is how all the people just know to stand at a movie safe distance away during every fight instead of running screaming for their lives like people would in real life.
Also metropolis would be abandoned, no one in their right mind would choose to live in a city where monsters show up all the time.

I haven't thought about that one. It's not just monsters. Various super villains are constantly fighing each other in Metropolis. I would move to Canada.

In Superman Doomsday, Superman missles Doomsdsy from space into the middle of Metropolis, leaving a mile long crater in the middle of the city. That was a choice.

That's just the absurd nature of comic properties in general and requires a bit of suspension of disbelief. I'd rather live in Metropolis than Gotham and yet that place is always packed

It's just something critics fixated on since they don't like the movie. Superman has never avoided collateral damage nor does he have a no killing rule. Gunn's superman is an overcorrection and it reminds me of that awful DBZ dub where nobody dies and destroyed cities are conveniently evacuated.

Perfect example of this is the courtroom scene where Superman lets everyone die just to prove a point .
