The best episodes were about the hatch and the show jumped the shark when it was just a kind of friendly guy in there but there was still this mist monster killing people randomly in the jungle
DHARMA started out cool but quickly became lame
The island shouldn't have had time travel or actual music destiny, Locke should have been the only one with premonitions or connections to it, and it should have been mostly true voodoo magic stuff that Dharma were just studying and Dharma should have all been dead maybe just maybe with the hatch guy alive but a violently insane psychopath

and even this is only really true on a first watch, on the rewatch(es) the cracks are there as early as S2 and from there the show is like 85% filler before quickly devolving into such a convoluted mess the characters have to outright and explicitly explain on numerous occasions what is even going on

The first 7 episodes or so was some of the worst shit i've ever seen. Horrible acting, the most generic cliched backstories. After that, the plot started getting more interesting. And things slightly improved. Good enough to string you along until the shitty ending. It really should have stopped once they got off the island the first time. The only thing missing was aliens.

Desmond was my favorite character.

True, but I actually I watched it with my 65 year old father. HE thought it was so bad he wanted to stop watching the series. I'm the one who said "it's supposed to be great, maybe itll get better" the characters were all pretty dogshit.

Really the most entertaining part of the show was he and I speculating what the big mystery was over a couple months.

if someone tells you they think this show is good you can privately know they're fucking stupid. there are shows which got cancelled suddenly with better endings, and the entire plot is an embarrassment. The cast are mid, the acting is mid, it's like fucking days of our lives. JJ is total garbage and went on to shit on star trek/wars with his own special brand of cocaine awful
