I'd venture to guess none of them has felt a single sincere conviction about anything since childhood. They exist as polyps upon the colon of culture, satiating themselves on the perceived failures of others (i.e. "The Man") while adding nothing new to the discourse aside from ironic complaint.

They're a group of insecure, lost, rapidly aging burnouts who silently believe they could do a better job of making films than the professionals in the industry. Yet they lack the ambition and ability to actually enter the very industry they're obsessed with. They choose instead to fuck around and make student film piss-takes well into middle age.

They are awful, awful people. I've met thousands just like them, and the last thing we need is for these people to gain any attention for their navel gazing.

Please, /tv/, do not aspire to become anything like these people. Theirs is a lonely road leading to depression and a life devoid of real purpose.

The most sobering experience was realizing that Mike and Jay are retards and don't actually watch good movies like you would think they do. Jay really likes shlock and horror and Mike mostly enjoys TV. I mean just look at the Popeye review they did. They mention it's Altman but don't really go deep into it. No mention of Harry Nilsson making the soundtrack, no mention of the writer being a comic and illustration guy, no deep dive into the different actors like the guy from Porkys, Bluto being the Turkish prison guy from Midnight Express, Paul Dooley absolutely killing it at Mr. Wimpy, and the countless characters that appeared based directly on the Thimble Theatre cast. All this shit not even brought up becuase they really only know Popeye through the Fleischer black and white cartoons.

all their critques are in bad faith/wrong too. One thing that always irked me was their comparison of how they treat R2 in the prequels to how R2 is treated by luke in a new hope. The charm of RLM was all the over the top and nitpicky critiques they made about popular movies, it was entertaining.
