Who is the best Bond?

Connery is a cop out because he's the first film Bond ever, and put a huge amount of his own style into the character. It means everyone following, generally, took something of him themselves. Furthermore, every Bond but Lazenby has been excellent in their own ways.

That being said,
Dalton > Craig > Brosnan > Moore > Lazenby. Connery would be before or after Dalton if I had to.

Despite what 4channelers say, Craig was an excellent Bond and a perfect choice for the modern, gritty themes that started with the Brosnan era. Brosnan himself is a fantastic actor, but frankly is too strong a personality for Bond. Similar to Connery, they both were playing Bond but were also just mostly themselves. I never felt like I was watching Bond, I was watching Brosnan play Bond, or Connery play Bond.

Moore's era was weird, though not bad. The campiness/goofyness that people cite have been in most Bond films but it's like he really enjoyed that part of it more than anything else and seemed to focus on it.

Dalton is easily the best though. Completely slips into the role, and singlehandedly makes TLD and Licence, otherwise mediocre movies, extremely enjoyable to watch.
Lazenby was Moore-lite, but honestly OHMSS was actually pretty fucking good.

There's very little of Connery's personality in the character, with the possible exception of his performance in DAF, which is his weakest. Connery's version of Bond is basically the novel character plus Terence Young, who groomed him for the role and taught him how a respectable Englishman should behave.

You guys read the books? I’ve been loving them, currently on Goldfinger. Really excited to watch the films since I haven’t seen any of them.

Brosnan. Anyone who says otherwise has shit taste or is baiting.

Daniel Craig. The other Bonds are kind of cheesy. Bronson gets away with it sometimes, but most of the series is too corny to take seriously.

It looks great. Lazenby is bad though, and the entire Blofeld scheme drags the story down. The whole act with Bond undercover is borderline turgid. That the movie is any good at all is down to Rigg and the photography.

I've read most of them. I liked Casino Royale, Moonraker, Live and Let Die, From Russia With Love, and You Only Live Twice. Dr. No way okay. The Man With the Golden Gun and Diamonds Are Forever were pretty lousy

Casino Royale is probably my favorite so far. I don’t mind the later goofiness. Reminds me of the Conan stories which I also love.
