Cartman has ben out of character for like ten seasons or something, what season is it even on now? Anyway, Butters is the only fun character left in the show, the M&T haven't even tried to be edgy since whatever season it was that they added PC principal. They even 4th wall break and talk directly to the audience about how they're not going to be edgy anymore because what used to be OK isn't anymore. And then Cartman shoots fetuses at a building with catapults or something, I forget, so empty and performative that it was genuinely insulting. Anyway, that's why Butters, a genuine and sincere character, is the only fun one anymore, because the edgy characters aren't allowed to be.

By rearranging the franchise in such a way that bad jokes never get forgotten and suck all the comedy out of good jokes. Funnybot was the worst episode of anything I’d ever seen but since the next episode moves on like it never existed it automatically seemed better. The Cthulhu stuff was awful but, once again, it never being mentioned again once done meant you never thought of it again. If they made those episodes now both would’ve been in every episode of the season and referenced every season after.
