>It is my nature, my joy and curse, to forget nothing. Every rattling chain and whistling wind, every sight, smell, and taste, remains changeless in my mind, and though I know it is not so with everyone, I cannot imagine what it can mean to be otherwise, as if one had slept when in fact an experience is merely remote.
I look like this and say this

70% of the appeal of these books is its not clear whats happening and a visual version of it would instantly ruin that aspect

So through short sun it sort of retroactively states that the cumian (witch) was an inhuma and that severian was dreamwalking like silkhorn does in short sun?

Yeah most of the book is serverian getting lost in thought and sidetracked which would he damn hard to ever pull off. I think the story could be done but people would see it as shallow or boring without the narration giving it soul

no one is capable of making kino now, so no.

Did you finish the series?
It was a glimpse into the past of white humans encountering the peoples that worshiped the the Head of Day.
Isangoma could see them as they were, phantoms

The 5th explains it fully when severian takes the corridors of time. The 3 cacogens explain it to him.
But yes the series demands a second read. Im on my 10th right now and halfway through the third book and it still so good

You forgot the random spurts of nonchalant violence to solve trivial problems. God, Severian is my favorite fictional autist. But yeah as a whole this series would never work on film, although there are some specific moments that would be kino as fuck in isolation

For me, i would love to see an animation of the stories from the brown book. The Story of the boy named Frog and the Man Who was Fleshed From Dreams.
>for no man lives long when his dreams are gone
