You're not a socialist then anon. One of the fundamental tenets of left wing theory is tabula rasa. If you accept that outcome distinctions are not wholly dependent on an unfair or ill constituted social body, and instead on natural differences between individuals and groups to atleast some degree, then you already reject progressive thought in essence. At this point all that's left is debating the specific degree to which outcomes are genetic or innate.
