The metric no one accounts for is popcorn sales, which are quite literally the life blood of movie theatres. I remember watching MoS in theatres and at least half the people had the bucket and cup. That’s pure profit, and the movie was in theatres for so long specifically because it kept selling buckets.

Now I work in a movie theatre (laugh all you want) and no one is buying the buckets, keychains, none of it. It’s all overpriced crap, where as the MoS gear was sublime and simple. Everyone is sneaking snacks into the Superman 2025 showings and theatres are bleeding money because of it.

In my city they sell a subscription thats about the equivalent of 29USD a month that gives you unlimited access to every movie showing at any cinema in the city. Its beginning to catch on cause now you can just drop into the cinema spontaneously whenever you feel like. And if the movie sucks you can go right out and into another theatre and watch something else, its great.

That's a pretty good idea, sort of like a 'physical streaming' plan - good if you go to the movies often

This. The main reason to get popcorn was to share a bag, your hands would touch by “accident” and she would giggle, and then at the bottom of the bag is by “accident” is your erect cock sticking through a hole you ripped.

I worked at a theater up until last year and our stockroom was ballooning over the bullshit that they'd send to us that wouldn't sell. Even at a 22-screen multiplex nobody is buying this shit

sad how people will accept any scam because they want their capeshit to "win"

in many other places they let people bring whatever food they want into the theater. the ticket is for seeing the MOVIE not being trapped there and buying their stupid merch

Not an average capeshit enjoyer but I fucking hate the cunts that come in with buckets of popcorn and munch munch munch all the way through the movie because they have to be doing something with their mouths, it's pathetic
