shame. but i guess actors do multiple thing at once and don't commit to one show for years in row so have to schedule everything. which is probably actual nightmare to do whoever has to arrange all that.

Recently read the books and it dawned on me that the movies were, for the most part, shit as well, and the only reason I liked them was because of the 10/10 actors. None of the script changes benefit the plot or the characters, and the increasing reliance on CGI kills the two towers and RotK.

They're not skipping to the end. In the books, the War of the Elves and Sauron happened 1800 years before the end of the Second Age. This is a result of them condensing thousands of years worth of events into a handful of years. So they have to rush through the War in order to get character to where they need to be for the next big event. Then they're going to have to rush through that in the next season to get the remaining characters to the next big event for season 5. This is what happens when you massively screw up the timeline of a story AND waste what time you do have on irrelevant side shit (Gandalf and the Harfoots fucking around in Rhun, for example).

I've never watched Breaking Bad so I have no idea what Walter White is like, but Sauron in season 2 was undercover with the elves pretending to be their ally, and manipulating them into creating the rings of power for him. He was also kinda sorta corrupting some of them so they'd be easier to destroy once he was done with them.

What was season 2 about

Amazon wanted to drag RoP onto the culture war but failed.
