>Complete Canon Timeline
I don't know what that means. Disney canon? I only like the movies and the pre Disney games
legends had just as much slop as the canon if not more so
>>213326802 (OP)The EU of course. I will not call it "legends".
Daily reminder that apology forms are due in ONE hour.
>>213326987EU has tons of coal, but some gems. Disney is all coal all the time. Andor is the only decent thing they have ever made since taking over the brand.
I choose growing the fuck up.
>I have been offered a movie which I may accept, if they come up with proper money. London and North Africa, starting in mid March. Science fiction, which gives me pause, but is to be directed by Paul (sic) Lucas, who did American Graffiti (1973). Big part. Fairy-tale rubbish, but could be interesting perhaps.
>New rubbish dialogue reaches me every other day on wadges of pink paper, and none of it makes my character clear or even bearable. I just think, thankfully, of the lovely bread, which will help me keep going until next April. I must off to studio and work with a dwarf (very sweet, and he has to wash in a bidet) and your fellow countrymen Mark Hamill and Tennyson (that can't be right) Ford. Ellison (? - No!), well, a rangy, languid young man who is probably intelligent and amusing. But Oh, God, God, they make me feel ninety, and treat me as if I was one hundred six.
>I shrivel inside each time it is mentioned. 20 years ago, it had a freshness, a sense of moral good and fun. Then I began to be uneasy at the influence it might be having. The bad penny first dropped in San Francisco when a sweet-faced boy of twelve told me proudly he had seen Star Wars over a hundred times. His elegant mother nodded with approval. Looking into the boys eyes I thought I detected little star-shells of madness beginning to form and I guess that one day they would explode. 'I would love for you to do something for me,' I said. "Anything! Anything!' the boy said rapturously. 'You won't like what I'm going to ask you to do.' I said. 'Anything, sir, anything!' 'Well,' I said, 'do you think you could promise never to see Star Wars again?' He bursts into tears. His mother drew herself up to an immense height. 'What a dreadful thing to say to a child!' she barked, and dragged the poor kid away. Maybe she was right but I just hope the lad, now in his thirties, is not living in a fantasy world of secondhand, childish banalities.
>>213327000>censoring hitlerthink you left your dilator at reddit, kind xir
When it comes to Star Wars outside of George's 6 movies I just cherry pick what I do and don't like.
>>213327000Only thing I'm apologizing for is not initially trusting his decision to sell to Disney.
I've been happy with pretty much everything except Episode 9 and Book of Boba Fett. Kenobi is bad too but for very special reasons
>>213326985Real Canon is the OT. The rest is fan fiction and Disney slop
>>213326802 (OP)Legends, every single time
Do I think it's canon? No, is it a cool book set in Star Wars? Yes.
>>213326987EU has some gems like the Thrawn trilogy and the X Wing series.
Disney only has niggers, feminist crap and three shitty movies with MCU writing featuring the European Union as the New Republic and Eipstein as Luke Skywalker.
>>213326802 (OP)I NEED Legends waifus written and portrayed for a teenage Marilyn Manson fanboy
>>213326802 (OP)Legends because it is complete and I can casually chip away at it without needing to worry about new stuff to keep up with.
>>213328247Thrawn trilogy was good when I was 12, but it doesn't hold up in my adult eyes. Same goes for all the paperback novels and badly-drawn comics of that era. I can still enjoy the first Star Wars film, though.
>>213328247The thrawn trilogy is unironically ass and
>Feminist crapWhat is this, 2016?
>>213328979>>213328979The thrawn trilogy only got the reputation it has of being some amazing series because Thrawn is the god of aura farming. Once you actually try to enjoy them everything falls apart
>>213326802 (OP)The EU was made by fans of the franchise and though George Lucas didn't consider it his own canon he was willing to provide guidance, Disney "canon" on the other hand is being made by people who hate the franchise and its fans and George Lucas has nothing to do with it. The choice is clear.
>>213329288The canons backbone is built on top of The Clone Wars, the ONLY project (besides the films) George worked on. And then the rest is helmed by Filoni, the only person who was ever mentored by Lucas directly.
Lucas' involvement is genuinely more felt in the Canon than it ever was in the EU
>>213327114This is so much less mature than just enjoying something made for children
>>213326992That's because you are 40+
>>213327273>Kenobi is bad too but for very special reasonsThere really was no reason to make it a TV show, it should've been cut down to 90-120 minutes and be a movie. People would've watched that shit like crazy and would probably have remembered it.
Also remove autotuned James Earl Jones.
>>213326802 (OP)Expanded Universe no fucking question
me and my SWG guild going to watch Episode 3 in Theatres...together.
>>213326923This guy has the only correct answer
>>213330437This is exactly what I meant by that.
The script was originally written as a film, and it was budgeted as a film. Then they had to stretch it out to a TV series and what could have easily been a B/B- movie (or better), ended up being, at best, a D of a show. Tragic stuff.

Only pic related is canon.
The OT, the PT, the JJ Abrams slop and the entire extended universe are non-canon trash.
Long live TLJ.
>>213326802 (OP)The choice is obvious if you're a real Star Wars fan.
Mara jade rules and I am depressed as hell every time I think of the movie canon Luke
>>213326802 (OP)Legends can get pretty shit but the Old Republic stuff is golden
>>213328979>What is this, 2016?Yeah, Disney Wars is very millennial-coded and seems trapped in the mid 2010's.
>>213329110>"aura farming">>213328979>umm like you can't complain about feminism in like 2025???So this is the kind of "people" defending Disney.
>>213329348>Clone WarsYou mean when Lucas completely lost the plot and made up shit like the Ones, proving he pretty much had no idea anymore about what the Force is?
>>213328247>featuring the European Union as the New RepublicBy far the worst part of the Disney canon, you have a government that's been through actual wartime and make them behave like a bunch of bleeding heart liberal millennials?
These morons wouldn't have won any wars.
The EU NR behaved way more like you'd expect a government lead by war veterans facing a threat that has proven to be impossible to reason with would: reject any peace proposals (since its obvious the Empire would only want this in order to regroup and rearm) and keep fighting them system by system, only accepting surrendering grunts and ship crews, and only if they swear to fight until the Empire is rendered a non-threat. And of course, dont give them any positions of power, give them no representation in the senate, and execute the higher ranking officers and moffs.
>>213333832Lucas lost the plot long before that
>>213334032The thing is his idea for the sequel trilogy wasn't bad, no idea what he was smoking while he wrote TCW.
>>213334055>his idea for the sequel trilogy wasn't badThe one where Darth maul comes back with Talon so she can seduce Ben Solo, Luke still dies alone on an island, and there is a subplot about Osmosis Jones inside Midichlorians?
>>213326802 (OP)EU was never canonic so the second choice is obligatory.
>>213334161Literally all of that except Maul and Talon is made up.
The plot was basically an epilogue to the franchise and the setting was basically a galactic wild west due to the power vacuum left by the dying Empire and a New Republic struggling to establish itself. There was no Ben Solo since Han and Leia only had one female child (who would be Luke's first padawan and also the main character), Luke would successfully rebuild the Jedi over decades and the trilogy would end with the reestablishment of the Jedi Council (though kept apart from the New Republic) and Leia being named Chancellor.
>>213326802 (OP)EU.
Why the fuck would I choose Disney?
They have zero clue what they are doing, their entire expanded universe is a mess that's spent a decade trying and failing to explain the non-sensical setting of the sequels, and they have unironic Tumblr fanfiction writers making TV shows.
>>213326985Disney Canon. One of those Star Wars lore explainer channels made an timeline video one May the Fourth several years back and has put out an updated version annually ever since.
>>213334161I'm pretty sure Luke's blackpilling was more about that last thing giving him a "Does free will even exist?" existential crisis then the "Oopsy daisies, I tried to kill my nephew and he killed everyone in response" thing we got.
>>213334284>>213334161You are both conflating the sequel ideas he had pre-PT, and the ideas he pitched to Disney. Everyone does this and it drives me crazy
I love Star Wars like you have no clue.
Theres just an itch for pulpy space serials that Star Wars is always there to scratch for me, even when it's bad
>>213326802 (OP)EU was pretty fun and the X-Wing series is the peak of Star Wars writing.
Plus I like how the EU wouldn't shy away from either the military or fantasy aspect, and in fact would often embrace both at the same time ala Metal Gear Solid at times.
Hardened war veterans using military tactics against supernatural entities will never not be kino.
