Not poorly written, but definitely bore-ly written. And poorly planned.
And they discarded so much from canon. Like there's really not many details about the events of the Second Age. All the more reason to make sure you do a good job with the ones that are specified.

The writers tried to write flowery language of LOTR without understand how it works, so they think if they just substitute words using modern speech with some old-timey language, it'll work out.

There is almost nothing at all in this show that is accurate to the book, and considering it is adapting an appendix in the back of Lord of the Rings that is an astonishing feat of incompetence on the part of the writers. They had what was quite literally a short list of major events and all they had to do was fill in the substantial gaps with plausible storytelling. And they fucked it up so badly that this doesn't even pass as fan fiction.
