No they are not wrong, they are just pragmatic, I am afflicted by the same mindset of unless a thing is necessary for my survival/function then why indulge in it? It keeps me from the many joys of life like sugar and alcohol. Perhaps it would be vanity but you still might look cool with the glasses so why not?
