is it okay to sacrifice historical accuracy if it means bastardizing a complex society and reducing them to a narrative in order to "tell a story"?
>>213338366 (OP)Only if the final product is kino.
Historical accuracy is always better and for one and one reason only. It shows the truth of the situation. It doesn't try to gussy it up for modern audiences, the truth is the truth. It's impactful, it's what really happened. Fictional portrayals fall flat because you watch it and understand it's not what really happened.
>>213338517Which it wasn't.
It's a bog standard action schlock revenge movie. Except it came out about 20 years after the genre had been done to death.
>>213338366 (OP)the first 20 mins are so boring.
>>213338366 (OP)the history buffs channel on youtube does a good breakdown of this movie, basically its all made up bullshit that doesn't even match the most liberal of historical timelines, basically mel gibson made the whole thing up
>>213338591Lmao @ the idea a film will ever get to the level of "what really happened."
>>213339200Oh wow, I thought it was a biographical movie. That's crazy
>>213339156Latin America loved that film. It's Californians who hate it
