Actual /who/ since the mong who's been making these threads lately doesn't know how to format the subject
Ncuti regrets taking the role and not fighting a Dalek. Billie Piper teases her future as the Doctor while also admitting she has no fucking clue what that future is.
Also Alex Kingston is on Strictly now. Dine show edition.
Why bother with the general? There's no one left to even dance on its grave.

"UNIT spin-off" sounds great.
but honestly i'd want it set in the 70s/80s. doesn't have to be Sergeant Benton and them, just do a Life on Mars style period piece, right down to using 'classic' costume and effects. some daft monster-of-the-week type series, during the UNIT wilderness years.
>>213342333Class was shit so it being good as Class still makes it shit
At least it actually has characters from the main show, even if they're wooden planks with no personality
The Tardis wiki looks like they're finally getting rid of all their fanfiction slop
Some are arguing against it but it looks like a strong majority including admins want to rewrite the coverage rules
It seems that one Star Wars fanfiction was the final straw lmao
https://tardis.wiki/wiki/Forum:T:NO_FANFIC:_An_Addendum
>>213342481>For example, we are currently covering a Star Wars fanfic titled Hunters of Angkor, due to it briefly featuring a character who debuted in another (albeit non-fanfic) novel by the same author โ Kingdom Cryptiqqa โ which is covered by this Wiki due to briefly mentioning Tekker and Krennos. god this shit comes up so much on there.
just random asides about how a character mentioned something else, therefore that whole thing is (or 'could be considered') part of the Doctor Who universe. it goes from speculation to outright making stuff up.

why won't Russell tell this lady who Billie Piper's new character is?
>>213342962because he knows he isn't going to be showrunner anymore and has left it for the next person to pick up the shit and figure out
>>213343017this confuses the fuck out of me. purely as a writer, how do you have NO plan, like the new Star Wars? it sounds lovely leaving a blank slate for people, but the end product is actually getting messed with: both Ncuti finales had all these cut scenes and threads which cleared things up, but ended up on the cutting room floor. Disney HAVE had creative input.
what happened to just writing a script, and filming it? RTD always had some frenetic writing style, but what's with this new clusterfuck? you couldn't have a series bible, or a general plan?
>>213343136RTD wrote and filmed these two seasons back to back so they couldn't change much of it when the first season flopped
And due to Disney not giving the greenlight they were unable to film a new season, and so RTD couldn't deliver the "no more year breaks, new season every year" promise
RTD also has the mindset that generating content will make a series succeed, which is why he made Billie the Doctor in order to generate discussion and attempt to make Disney change their mind
The only successful thing to come out of that way of thinking is getting a bunch of tiktok literal school kids obsessed with Ring a Ding and Dugga Doo, but that's it
>>213342333It's being written by the Kablam guy, so doubtful

Didn't see it get posted before so I'm just reposting for discussion sake.
https://www.doctorwho.tv/news-and-features/new-mixed-media-adventure-doctor-who-circuit-breaker-coming-to-the-whoniverse-in
>Spanning audio dramas, comics, mobile games, novels, and digital storytelling, Circuit Breaker is a bold new chapter in the Whoniverse offering an ambitious interconnected narrative that will unfold across multiple formats, inviting fans to experience the mystery from every angle. The overarching narrative is crafted by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson, best-selling author and rising star in speculative fiction and features Jo Martin as the Fugitive Doctor.
>In Circuit Breaker, strange alien artifacts begin appearing inside UNITโs Black Archive. Each object is unmistakably linked to a different regeneration of the Doctor, but theyโve been tampered with. A corrupted energy signature of unknown origin pulses through them, and their sudden arrival has torn tiny ruptures across time and space.
>UNIT is out of options. To repair the damage and restore the timeline, the objects must be returned to the exact moments they were taken from. If not, the Doctorโs adventures โ and the universe itself โ could unravel.
>To solve the mystery, UNIT calls upon a little-known incarnation of the Time Lord: the Fugitive Doctor, played by Jo Martin, who returns in a central role. But how does UNIT know about her? And is she the Doctor they expect?
>>213343331Couldn't have Russell just gotten Jo Martin to do some specials until they found a new 16, instead of dragging out Billie Piper?
>>213343331Why do they keep doing this multimedia shit when Doom's Day turned out to be an even bigger flop than TLV
>>213343466Try and make merchandise sales while the show is on soft hiatus.
Sole reason we get shit like Time Lord Victorious, Doom's Day and now this.
>>213343350I think the next show runner should start it off with Billy Piper just letting out a huge belch and then flash regenerating into the next real doctor (Smith to Capaldi style). Then the new doctor doesn't even acknowledge anything weird and moves on.

and then purge the rest and start again, the whole thing, start over from page 1
>>213342481>is it licensed by the BBC?If yes, keep. If no, junk it.
Not hard.
>>213343331>Spanning audio dramas, comics, mobile games, novels, and digital storytelling,So it consists entirely of throwaway garbage nobody will ever listen to/read/play/read/read? Sounds exciting! Transmodal storytelling was a fucking mistake
>>213344000Like TLV and Doom's Day, they severely overestimate how much fans care to go out of their way to buy books, comics, and audios just to get a complete story.
Nice trips.
>>213343984So you would junk Downtime then
>>213342481>>213343937from what i can gleam from the discussion, this...person has their whole crossover-with-everything fan fiction world, that sometimes happens to feature Doctor Who characters?
http://tardis.wiki/wiki/Atom_Mudman_Bezecny
but compared to some random user on fanfiction.net, these were actually published, in print, despite not having the licence to use these characters?
who the hell reads these? is it at least a fun schizo thing, Ulililia/Chris-chan type nonsense?
>>213344473It doesn't feature any DW characters, one book just happens to mention a Classic Who character because the author managed to get the rights to it, and the wiki then considers any character that debuts in that book a DW character in their own right so now you have all this schizo nonsense that's several degrees removed from DW on the wiki
>>213342481Why was that the final straw and not that kid's Peter Griffin comic though
>>213343331>Esmie Jikiemi-Pearsonthat's a name of a real person
>>213344279Yes, otherwise we get into "why scrap X if you're letting Y through?"
>>213344548weird. they've given the example of a Sooty fan-fiction/parody that includes Bernice Summerfield, which is pretty questionable. but this Star Wars fan fiction has the author's OC that was also in this Doctor Who fan fiction? that's it?
The Curse of Fatal Death, i'd understand. but at what point do they include every parody that references Doctor Who? Simpsons episodes, Community, why don't those get articles?
>>213344811>Simpsons episodes, Community, why don't those get articles?Because those never got the rights to use Doctor Who characters like this author did
http://tardis.wiki/wiki/The_Snowmen_(TV_story)
http://tardis.wiki/wiki/The_Snowmen_(in-universe)
this cracks me up. because Doctor Who is a programme inside the Doctor Who universe, there's both a real world article for 'The Snowmen' and the in-universe 'The Snowmen' episode.
maybe they'll do this for every story because of the Land of Fiction/cartoon episode fourth-wall gimmick.
>>213343350Because Jo Martin isn't going to draw a dime on her own.
>>213344900the discussion seems to indicate their six-way crossover only got the rights to some 80s science-fiction film. Night of the Living Dead was public domain, the others just had a 'Doctor Who is owned by the BBC' attribution at the start?
what counts as fair use/fair dealing, i have no clue. but the Star Wars story is one degree removed from having the rights to officially use a character. Lawrence Miles could just say some schizo nonsense on his blog, that's not the same as a Virgin New Adventures novel, is it?

>>213344924>oh my goodness the new Dr Who is my favourite actor, Matt Smith!
https://tardis.wiki/wiki/Theory:Unusual_articles
>>213345069It's not about previous popularity. It's about getting the role for the right reasons.
>>213345175yeah i agree, just think it's daft an actor/actress has to be a 'draw', y'know? and if anything people WOULD tune in for 'fat black lady Dr Who' (for one episode).
haven't listened to the audios, no clue what they're doing with the teases in the show, but a full two-Doctors story with her mite b cool.

I don't see how the show is salvageable so I could at least derive some feelgood factor from seeing her getting her moment. >>213345761>why waste the opportunity of a multi-doctor story on more of the shit that helped sink the show in the first place?i want her to have a real, full (televised) story. unfortunately that does mean getting into all the seekrit Timeless Child backstory stuff (i was fine enough with The Division). or at least somehow getting it out the way.
a whole series? not as interested. i think Dr Who should be an (ideally elderly) English/Scottish male. she'd be a good foil.
>>213346046>i want her to have a real, full (televised) story. Why though? She doesn't seem a particularly good actor or to have much gravitas. Plus as you say, her version of the doctor comes loaded with baggage. Not arguing, I just hear that a lot and wonder what people saw in her that I didn't.

don't want grimderp or (too many) grandiose speeches, but her being a bit more First Doctor, i wanted to watch THAT series. she does seem like a decent enough actress, and was written less gurning/gormless. if you can do it as a one-off, why not just do it all the time? so sick of irony and quips.

They elect to get gender-affirming care to them, and find them attempting to loot the cargo port in desperation, with its Shunterbots crying in the corner. Crescent decides to shout that they have the estrogen and testosterone, causing the Zombs to encircle her and Luigi, singing a chorus of appreciation. They find that the Zombs have blowtorched every container except the one containing what they needed. Crescent makes a speech to tell them to fight back against the Legion.>The Zombs repair Birmingham, reimburse the damaged goods, and bake an apology cake for the Shunterbots.
