Two reasons, I think.

1) GoT was more recent, in particular it aired when the internet and social media were a thing. Simply put, GoT had a greater cultural impact on more people. It has a bigger fan base (don’t cope by denying this).

2) GoT offers more discussion because there’s more to discuss. There is an ongoing sequel series; there is an another series on the way (Knight of Seven Kingdoms); and there will always be speculation on the unreleased books. Sopranos had the “Many Saints of Newark” movie which was one of the worst things ever made. Sopranos as an IP is long dead; GoT as an IP continues to breathe.
