I was thinking that once 9/11 becomes a distant exotic memory for younger generations in like 40 or 60 years, if cinema still exists in some form by then, they could try the Titanic treatment, where Romeo and Juliet-like fictional characters get a happy ending. Kate-stand in would be an intern in WTC2, Leo-stand-in a bike messenger who once trained as a firefighter but has a brother with the NYFD. A way to get unity of characters thooughout the whole event.

I would go into the north tower and break a window on a floor below the impact zone between the two columns that one guy actually managed to climb down 20 floors before being blown off by the South tower collapsing. It would have been an amazing story if he had actually managed to get out alive.
