I mean it's a retarded show version of the movie only playing in one place on Earth. I can go watch a good copy of Wizard of Oz any time, it's an incredibly well-preserved movie.

The real evil is shit like blu-ray "remasters" like James Cameron's unforgivable AI slop. How the fuck he gave right the okay is beyond me. It looks like a SNES game fed through a filter.

Legitimately, no. It's the filter the movie was fed through. A whole bunch of shitty de-noising and AI "enhancements" that butchered the entire thing. The amount of people who think film grain is a flaw is staggering.

This is literally great, would further amaze the people who saw the original in the exact same style as they were amazed originally, and itโ€™s also designed to be seen within the dome and not from an iPhone webm of somebody loosely filming one section of the screen

"Literally" great? Nah. But yes, it would impress people who saw it in technicolor, it's meant to be seen in a massive format. But seeing big trees in a massive format is not impressive to me in 2025, I grew up on IMAX movies.

No. The thread is about how one shouldn't use new technology to alter old movies. Chuds cry about using AI to change old movies, but they praise George Lucas for altering the original SW films with CGI. There is no fallacy in calling them out for this inconsistency.

I don't actually care about people changing old movies as long as the original is still readily available. If Ridley Scott's dementia-riddled ass wants to make Blade Runner: My Dick Cut where Deckard is actually just a figment of the audience's imagination, go ahead. I still have the versions of Blade Runner I like, and they're easily accessible.
This is where Lucas was actually the fucking worst, he actively went out of his way to bury older copies of Star Wars, and make it incredibly difficult for anyone to watch the originals. Any kid watching them on Disney Plus today (which is how most little shits absorb their Gisnep now) is getting a completely butchered version. Don't you think that's a little sad?

He didn't bury any copies of the "originals" (assuming you mean the VHS, the theatrical 1977 release had four different versions depending on the type of theater so there was no single original). He never impeded their distribution.
Why would I think it's sad that a writer gets to finish his book, or an artist his sketch? It was his movie, it's not done until he decides to, not the fans.

Give it a few generations. People laughed at horse armor DLC, zoomers think you're abnormal if you don't buy digital (((content))). The biggest propaganda thing in 1984 is rewriting the past. You can take something innocuous like Silent Hill 2 and how it got the UE5 treatment and apply it to politics, history etc. You could easily make alphas think that Kennedy never got shot and that he went ass to ass with Frank Sinatra to promote gay rights.
