This is what a society all addicted to SSRIs looks like.

Matt Lauer might be the most brutal memory-hole of all time. He was THE face of the news for me growing up and that was when cable news was still relevant, then as soon as he got accused he was simply never spoken of again

Why did they attack him for not liking antidepressants of all things? What would motivate Lauer to focus on that?

because in the 2000s there wasn't much pushback against them, depression was seen almost exclusively as a disease which required a cure

>He was right
For the wrong reasons. He's perfectly fine duking on psychiatry, while advocating for "auditing" or another kooky thing from Scientology.

Pharma was still a huge machine then and a lack of social media meant no pushback. The only case I can think of from that era stemmed from an LA Times expose that led to congressional hearings and perjury incarcerations

How the fuck do people just forget he had a rape button in his office? I bring that up every chance I get. I see you push an elevator button you're in for a long elevator ride.

This was a learning moment for me as far as news reporters being shills and the industry being editorialized. I knew Lauer was a POS when Tom called him out on the responsibility he holds as a national anchor & imparting information and his response was โ€œIโ€™m not prescribing medication.โ€
