What's the reason for using the steam version of blender?

It auto updates (but that's currently irrelevant cause I'm using a way older version of it that they stopped supporting on Steam since I need that to complete my current project and can't just upgrade it mid-production), and it tracks my hours put into it, so I know just how much time I spent creating a specific project / animation in it, and I like keeping track of that.
