DB fans are truly one of the stupidest fanbase out there (I mean one has to simply visit their general threads on /a/ to understand it). Changing the source material != movie is objectively bad. You can take the characters and setting and try to make your own thing. You can also give some legitimate criticism of this movie of course, but it's hilarious how bad majority of people are at movie critique that this movie is universally hated despite being average.

No dipshit, it's bad for the same reason all adaptations that ignore the source are. If you bought an IP to adopt that means people already like it. You have an actual literal blueprint to make something people like. But when people change the IP they are saying we want to ignore this thing we paid for and instead actually want this thing. That's fine but then why buy the IP? Answer because the idea isn't good enough on its own and they expect the IP to carry it. Classic dipshit behavior. If the idea requires an IP, then it's a lame idea and you should stay in the IP
