That's because season 1 actually had shit happening.
Turning a sandwich place into a fine restaurant was interesting. But watching episode after episode of nothing happening except the people there navel-gazing and venting about their personal trauma isn't interesting.
They focused way too much on the characters instead of the restaurant. And there's only so many times you can watch Carm go "oh, I have it hard mentally, I have high standards, maybe it's because of my training and fucked up family?"
I didn't think S4 was as bad as S3. But the show hasn't been good since S1. You might as well finish the season.
