My god. What a shitty adaptatioh. One of the worst movies I've ever watched in my entire life.

Try "The Golden Man" with Nicolas Cage or "The Adjustment Bureau" with Matt Damon, both are worse. "A Scanner Darkly" isn t a shitty adaption, the book was shitty, Dick was too high to write anything good.

Is the book that good? Havenโ€™t read it but I thought the movie was great. Based on my experiences with drug users the actors were good at playing functioning drug addicts. Weโ€™ll all except Keanu but since his character is also under cover it works.

A scanner darkly is one of the most slavish page-for-page adaptation of the book. There are only a few bits that didn't fit into the movie.

>Is the book that good?
Yes.
Most of it is up on screen, but probably one of the more grounded PKD stories.
Most of his books are pretty short, and mostly he wrote short stories, so they're all really quick reads that go from neat sci-fi to shit that makes you realize he just sucked you into his schizo wormhole.
Like if you ever read Valis, you'll find yourself wondering how self aware the story is, and by the end you start seeing the edges of the matrix showing, and you worry if you should see a doctor.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Nixon seething transcends generations. Time could wash away blourmph being a pedophile on track to being the worst present in history but in 30 years there will still probably be Nixon is satan jokes because he called out the jews and the pajeets.
