Remember when Austin walked out the night after WrestleMania 18 because he didn't like his place on the card?

Remember when Austin skipped the brand split draft in 2002 because he wasn't going to be the first pick?

Remember when he no showed a bunch of Raws in Fall 01 because he had to put kurt angle over for 9/11 reasons and he didn't want to?

Remember when he walked out again because he was seething over lesnar and vince was trying to move on from Austins old ass?

Remember when he didn't want to put The Rock over at WrestleMania 2000 so he got his neck surgery faster than he was supposed to?

Remember when Austin came back in 2003 and got embarrassed by Triple H for being a pretend sheriff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuNAYdcgRcc&t=41s

wwe is doing dana white style press conferences after their "PLEs"
i say PLE because wwe became so unpopular they stopped doing pay per views and were forced to include their staple events in online streaming packages
wwe did not invent the pay per view concept, it was popularized by boxing promoters in the 60s

Think for just a minute how badly they fucked up the 2001 Invasion angle. In the next couple of years the WCW/ECW side could have had Rey Mysterio, NWO with Hogan, Scott Steiner and Goldberg. But they half-passed it with Booker T and a past it DDP instead. It's mind-boggling. Even the management roles were Heyman and the McMahon kids where a bit later they brought in Bischoff.

There needs to be an MMA with writers. All the fights are shoots still, but everything outside the ring is worked. Hire managers to do the heavy lifting with acting and pageantry. Tag matches would be cool, but obviously too dangerous for real combat without rule changes and tremendous discipline from the athletes.

100% yes. It went through numerous pinfalls
>WWF becoming WWE
>WWE going public
>WWE buying WCW
>failed WCW Invasion angle
>Austin turning heel
The Rock/Austin WM XIX match was the true end. Only Shawn Michaels and Undertaker were a reason to watch for a few more years.
Today it's like watching a plastic corporate nightmare.

I caught the bill goldberg retirement match last month and it was retarded. Why even write him in if you're going to make it a title match you can't afford to let him win?

I thought part of it was, a lot of the WCW wrestlers had huge contracts, that bankrupted WCW, and Turner was required to still pay the rest of the contract despite selling the company. The big name guys were making so much they didn't want to take the buyout and instead just wait out their Turner contract. That's why the WWE only got mid wrestlers to sign like Booker. And I think they didn't want to pay what Goldberg demanded, etc.

I think the big failure was they bought the company but not the wrestlers and the wrestlers wouldn't take a buyout that was lower than their active contract with Turner.
