Lorne Michaels is a bit of a kingmaker in Hollywood. Most SNL alumni are successful due to varying combinations of having been in his favor and/or being actually talented. Jimmy Fallon's show sucks but he has one too.

Oh 100%. Seth Meyers is the worst host in the history of network late night TV. He literally only has that show because Lorne Michaels thought he was Conan 2.0 due to being a the head writer on SNL when he was on. The problem was where as Conan had written great sketches on SNL and helped the Simpsons find their style, Seth Meyers mostly wrote for the worst version of Weekend update, which itself is an overrated sketch style that's been done to death. Besides being politically alienating and his show not being that funny, he's just a weird looking human being with the timing of an autistic.
