This happens to me with music. There are songs I really enjoy and associate with times in my life. Now I can't listen to a lot of them because for some reason it only reminds me of the ways I messed. Those old songs just bring up self loathing about what could've been.

It's really brutal. Bad headspace to be in, so trying to get out of it, but man, it just happens every time.

I can't watch videos my parents made of us when I was a child because it makes me nostalgic and reminds me that parents will one day die.
But I love rewatching BB/BCS as it reminds me of that comfy time when flip phones were a thing but not smartphones. When offensive/racial banter did not raise yebrows. When colorful homemade websites with flashy CSS were a thing but no social media (or not in the way it exists now).
