>entire identity and self esteem are tied to career
>his latent self esteem is shaky and built on people liking him
>gets "laid off" but the consequences are the same as fired: forced out of livelihood and source of passion because in the end the important people at the top just don't like him
>take it extremely personally
>tries to rage quit on his last day but instead just makes some edgy remarks and fades into the background and disappears in front of rolling cameras because he's used to going invisible in a crowd
>doesn't say goodbye to anyone
>the industry forgets he exists as soon as he's out of sight
>tries to make several comebacks in other jobs to fill the empty void
>the pain of failure never gets better
>everything going wrong all at once and retreats into isolation
>starts trashing his home without being drunk or on drugs, just to express how he feels
>cops haul him to a bin

My life is playing out identical to this guy, even down to the ending digit of the year when it all goes wrong and two years later when he ropes

I feel bad for Ray. But he's one of many who got a break but didn't have staying power and it mindbroke them. I'd probably be the same way if it happened to me so I can't blame him. You got a little taste of the sweet life, just enough to savor it, then you get cut off and move back to the farm where you're just another working stiff. It would be devastating.

For normal people the regression to the baseline is just back to dull pain. Ray on the other hand was going to have a hard life if he couldn't call the shots on another show. He had some unconventional ideas on family feud and later shows put him in a box. If he had mental issues from being a manlet and not the most popular guy growing up he wasn't going to take it well.

It's unironically a good thing he's not around to see what the feud has become
