Dexter is such a journey, I can barely remember the first seasons I have these almost hazey memories.
I just remember watching season 1 up to 4 with /tv/, when streambro was around. I believe afterwards True Blood followed, or vice versa. Those were good times.

I remember Michael C Hall getting cancer, I remember James Almos, I remember trinity vividly, I think I dropped off around the last season with Vogel?

It's definitely that, I think honestly I mean - his ex wife, Debra whatever her real name is. Seems really neurotic in real life, in interview etc, and she has outwardly said that Dexter caused a lot of her issues because it was a "fucked up place to work, dead bodies, kids covered in blood" etc, and then she married the serial killer lead.
It's all speculation but I remember as Dexter ended Hall went out his way to continuously say "Im not Dexter, Dexter is a bad guy, if you look up to Dexter youre a bad person" etc, so I think there was some animosity towards it, probably in part played a small role in the break down of his marriage.
However yeah he totally has embraced the role now, I think the writing has gotten better, I think the story is great and I think he's totally on board. New Blood just lit a spark in him.

It's likely that the one of the helicopter is the one that does the meetings at least, as originally Dex followed that one too the store and the other twin caught him by throwing the book/asked him why he was in the bookstore.
