No one who actually reads comics pretends that's true though. If they did then there wouldn't be 2-3 storylines for the average superhero that every comic fan points to as a suitable place to jump in. The reason specific storylines are even memorable is due precisely to how shit the story is in an average comic. Without the average forgettable storyline few would be able to appreciate The Dark Knight Returns or All Star Superman.
