The Dexter show is really plot-driven, not character-driven. Dexter investigated Lady Vengeance, found her trophies, figured out the where, the why and the how.
But to make the plot twist happen and have Dexter say "how did I not see this coming?", he completely skipped all preliminary work on Gemini. Dexter even let the Zodiac Killer go, because he was not sure how involved he was in the killing. But Gemini is just killed ASAP, when he randomly came to his house. That was really reckless, because if Gemini even slightly suspected foul play, then he would have told someone where he went.

blessing is the ripper would be an awful direction for the show to go in. it's lazy to make everything have some meaning that always come back to dexter, it makes the show suddenly feel very insular and contrived. like just consider what's happened so far

>the ripper helps him get work and offers him somewhere to live
>invites dexter into his home and meets his family

>this leads to dexter meeting a financial wizard with an interest in serial killers

it would be a cheap, unearned twist and would make the entire setting of the show feel fake, almost hypocritical of the broad backdrop of new york, with everyone dexter bumping into coincidentally being intimately related to the ripper. it's more interesting if the ripper is simply a piece of furniture in the background, part of a bigger picture. the reason why episode 4 was so good was that it put dexter in a foreign situation facing something more elaborate than anything else he has encountered.
if the season will truly end with well dexter just killed all of prater's guests, oh yeah and it turns out blessing is that serial killer prater is obsessed with and dexter kills him too, it will be beyond anti climatic.
i don't really see what's wrong with actually writing some characters that feel real. what's so wrong with dexter just having a friend, not another eventual obstacle
