I enjoyed it

I think it’s because the show has a hint of generational trauma that I’m kind of sick and tired of at this point. Also, every single episode tries to tackle some real-world topic like divorce or poly relationships or cultural appropriation or sigma male videos, while in the original KotH you’d have silly episodes like Hank making a miniature house for Ladybird and Bobby is the one that ends up living in it or Hank being too absorbed playing a video game of a character that looks like himself.
The original King of the Hill had episodes with some genuine heart and witty jokes, but in this new season I maybe huffed air like 6 times total.
Hank being extremely obsessive over his job to the point of making propane and propane accessories one of his defining character traits is comical, bobby being an impressionable child with an unnatural charisma made for funny scenarios. This season strips that because Bobby struggling to maintain his job as a japanese/german fusion restaurant chef isn’t inherently funny, it’s just real, and hank struggling to find his footing as a retired american isn’t inherently funny, but is rather carried by Hank’s humorous aspects like his obsessive need to be a handyman or contribute to something.
