Sounds mildly interesting if it were 2009 and airing concurrently with the Office. By now the mockumentary thing is played out and this cast looks horribly overconfident. The office season 1-2 barely characterized the minor characters until they figured it out.

Michael Scott made the show funny, also Dwight to a certain extent, Creed and Kevin worked only in small doses. I heard the same, but it was framed as a bitter act from the creators of the Office instead. Either way, they do a lot of work shaping him from the first time we see him, into being a sympathetic and likeable character, redeeming himself, becoming successful and then he just nosedives into being a nasty, uncaring, narcissistic freak which is really weird.

The Office worked because the actual company they were apart of was irrelevant to the humor of the show. It was just a generic office building where they push papers and pretend to be doing something when they're really not. There is no chance this works when the whole point of the show is just to promote muh journalism and is going to be filled with self-indulgent nonsense about how important they are

I remember before Parks and Rex’s started and before it had a name and it was first announced every article said “Amy Poehler leaving SNL to star in The Office spin-off” but they kept it all kinda hush hush on the exact plot until it came out and after all the talk of it being an office spin-off it was nothing like the office other than it being another mockumentary and having a bunch of the same writers and producers.

A decision so bad that it has undone the whole season of redeeming Andy, has undone his healthy relationship with Erin so they had to write in the whole love triangle bullshit, has decreased the quality the show as a whole as Andy was a big focus of the last two seasons with lots of screentime, and so on.
