>Culture war types shill this series like the second coming
>S2 finishes
>literally nobody mentions or talks about it again
Andor was absolutely fucking boring as fuck slop along with Rogue One. I have no fucking clue why /tv/ shills this nothing dogshit so much. S2 might have been the single most boring and terribly paced show I've seen in my life.
Between Trekkies desperately wanting to pretend SNW is good, and Star Wars fans pretending Rogue One is a return to form, both franchises are now coasting on insane fan copium.

Itโ€™s a Star Wars series embarrassed of being Star Wars. Its why it has barely any aliens and tries to do some weird revisionism where the separatists had a large human presence when thatโ€™s blatantly not true.

It's a problem of low expectations. Star Was has been so shit for so long that when something slightly decent comes is made, fans praise it as a glorious return to form, because they desperately want to believe that. Truth is it was just okay.

Biggest issue with andor is they rush through or even time skip the interesting stuff, then just focus on melodrama and absolutely wtf shit like characters just standing around or eating cerel or whatever for almost what it feels entire episodes on end. Also most of the characters have no impact on the plot whatsoever. What the fuck was the point of space arab boy or girlfriend or even Mon Mothma? They do nothing and have no impact on anything.
Almost dropped the show on the TERRIBLE wedding episode, but kept watching because people kept saying this show was awesome, but nope. Should have dropped it.
Also a lot of the drama comes from characters acting inexplicity retarded for no reason, which is one of my most hated tropes in media. Luthen's death was also massive bullshit lmao.

How would an antique shop owner explain outfitting his shop with explosives when the ISB decide to inspect? How would he even manage to put something like that in place covertly without raising any suspicion in the middle of Coruscant? It's a grey, miserable show, made for people who don't really like Star Wars. It was produced in the UK and it bears some resemblance to the morbidly depressing dramas and police shows we have here. That's not Star Wars to me. Star Wars in meant to be fun. This was more like an episode of Black Mirror or something.

And no, it's not even as good as ROTJ.

No. Okay they filmed in Britain, but it's dour-faced modern Britain, giving it a different tone. I didn't mean to make it sound that way. I'm really talking about atmosphere and themes. In Andor - in the first season, at least - everyone's a scheming backstabbing prick. There are no heroes, no real friendships, everything is mercenary and pragmatic. No one is even remotely likeable. I don't think you can say that this is like the first Star Wars film. It's more like Game of Thrones.

andor is just the OT/prequel debate updated for 2025.

if you're not a fan of star wars and don't like andor, that's valid
if you're a prequel/clone wars fan who only pays lip service to 4-6, and don't like andor, that's valid too
if you're an OT purist and don't like andor, that's where you're baiting

almost univerally the ones hating on andor are the types who grew up on the prequels and unironically think rots is the best from 1-9

Andor is the opposite of charismatic, he spends 90% of the screentime just stairing and looking zoned out and every time he opens his mouth he speaks like he has autism.

Yeah pretty much. What people also don't realize is the Star Wars universe is shallow as fuck and pretty fucking lame honestly when it comes to politics and factions. The Prequels and even Clone Wars until S3 doesn't even explain what the fuck the CIS is or what they even want or are doing or who is leading them or any political demands or anything. Why does the republic want a massive civil war over some fucking alien rim worlds fucking off? Who knows.
It's also the same largely for Andor, when you realize they are literally just fighting to restore a dogshit corrupt liberal republic that collapsed under it's own corruption and cartoonish level incompetency, it removes a lot of the drive for what the characters are fighting for, especially when you know the Republic lasts a whole like 10 years, and was even more corrupt and incompetent than the Republic the Empire replaced before being Starkillered.
Reality is, Star Wars was always a more fun stupid EU pulp setting and Video game franchise than a "lore" film franchise, and frankly, Kotor and Kotor 2 are probably the best the franchise has to offer in story.
Hoping 40k comes in and puts Star Wars out of it's misery.

not at all. star wars is rarely shot on preexisting real world locations like is frequently done in andor. you'd really compare bespin to ghorman and see no difference in worldbuilding scope? I don't really get a sense of wonder when looking at ghorman, I just see space france. which is cohesive with the themes of the show, but less so with the rest of star wars.

Then Andor came along and everybody hyped it up like it was the second coming. "Star Wars is saved bro, you have to watch it, it's so good". I'm not falling for that shit again. Fool me once.

it just exposes what rogue one has always been. andor has the same effect on all the filoni slop as well. the fact that one semi-coherent and semi-competent series like andor can have such a seismic impact on the franchise should clue you in on how dogshit all of it really is. star wars is garbage and you should feel bad for liking any of it

Anyway, I don't think they are the same audiences. Andor is legitimately an adult drama with amazing actors set in the SW universe.

after the prequels and the decades of cartoon slop, Mandalorian WAS kino and legitimately good, for one maybe two seasons.

But Andor is on another level entirely and is adult and the closest thing to Empire Strikes Back in quality. The showrunner truly understood the essence of Star Wars

Yet George wrote Jar Jar in the style of an old-fashioned minstrel act. If you read the script for TPM, you see that Ahmed Best said those lines exactly as George wrote them. He didn't ad-lib any of that stuff.

The Baby Yoda shit ruined it for me. It took me back to The Phantom Menace, when George was making Star Wars much more cutesy and childish to drive toy sales.

You either make your badass bounty hunter show, or you make the Teletubbies. You can't do both at once.

I never really liked these shows that seem to exist just to like, flesh out lore for random corners of the Star Wars universe that don't need to be built out because they contribute nothing contextually. I don't care about the Empire's shitty prisons, I don't care about the Empire outpost on some fucking planet of gay multi-ethnic forest druids. I don't care about how the Empire got the fuel and metal to build the Death Star by setting up secret mining operations on a planet whos' primary export is spiders.

But simultaneously, I don't care about the events of this fucking show because I already know what happens. I already know that there's a rebellion, leading up to the death of the Empire. I already saw that movie. So the fact that you're trying to frame it so the entire fucking impetus for the events of Star Wars IV hang on the random doings of some charismaless retard who really just kind of constantly seems to be at the wrong place at the wrong time rather than anything else, doesn't interest me.

Immense bloat for 'character development' compounded by 5 intended seasons truncated into the 2nd. Didn't stay on the genre rails that kept Season 1 interesting (Spy Thriller, Prison Break, Heist). Aiming high elevates nothing if it doesn't hit the mark.
