It's pretty cool. The day-to-day banter stuff about a modern police officer working in the 60s is great. The underlying mystery plot is annoying and stupid, though.

iirc the creators were blown away by how popular Gene Hunt became, so Ashes to Ashes basically just became a power fantasy.
I'm pretty sure his first scene in A2A has him driving a speedboat while wielding an uzi, kek.

I remember watching bits and pieces as a kid when my mum used to watch it and seriously believed the mystery was building up over each episode, only to be disapointed when watching it as a teen because it's pretty obvious what's going on from the first fucking episode.
Could have been a really kino sci-fi/psycological mystery if they kept the viewer guessing.

I miss this show. So fucking kino. Actually works on quite a few levels
>haunting plot with the time travel elements
>great procedural plots
>interesting comparison of policing from then to now

Great ending, too.

I only found out about after watching the us remake, tried to watch it and turned it of half way tthrough the first episode since us version was shot for shot remake. I watched the whole of the russian version though called The Dark side of the Moon since they flipped the situation. In the original and us versions the mc is by the book 100% good guy transported into a "dirtier" times, in russian version it's the other way around, shit he even get's surprised when a soviet citizen comes to him openly on a street to report a crime he just wintessed. I also liked how each version had it's own explanation for what is happening original is purgatory, us version is a glitch in a matrix in cryosleep on a first manned mission to Mars, and in russian version he is in a coma that made him quantum leap into his own father and do all sorts of butterfly effect shit to the point that second season takes place in a parrallel timeline he created

No, you don't get any satisfaction about him telling others who he really is, a man from the future. Just constant blueballing
