Shane’s first script, Lethal Weapon, is legit awesome.

Sadly, none of his other scripts/movies are nearly as good though. He’s a self-admitted super fan of 1940s noir writer Raymond Chandler, and the vast majority of Shane’s scripts/movies are heavily “inspired” (almost derived) directly from Raymond Chandlers books.

Can’t think of any other writer-directors who have “borrowed” so heavily and directly from a past writer.

I guess if you’re gonna steal from anyone, might as well make it a legend like Chandler.

He said in an interview that a script for Nice Guys 2 exists but Gosling and Russell are expensive and the movie didn't generate enough profit to convince producers. Saddens me to this day. I love The Nice Guys.

This movie had really good actors. Most of them did a great job. But the script was doodoo. I think my favorite scene was Pattinson trying out his bat glider for the first time before eating pavement. .y second favorite scene was the unreasonably long and stupid motorcycle drive through a graveyard with Catwoman.

I’m still waiting for The Long Kiss Good Night 2 and The Last Boy Scout 2.

Not surprisingly, Chandler wrote a book called The Long Goodbye.

>The Last Boy Scout

One of his most Chandler-esque scripts. Sort of a precursor to The Nice Guys.

stuff like that rubs me the wrong way about an actor i mightve liked
WHY ON EARTH cant this multi millionaire just take like 40% less its not like everyone couldnt immediately understand that this isnt a hurt to his reputation, but him addressing the cost issue and taking a bit of a hit just for the fans and the director
but nope, project just has to die cause i might lose some rep
