this live action was never meant to tell the ending of the source material, it was always envisioned to push the manga popularity in the west, then netflix and WIT announced the remake of the anime, with improved quality and better pacing, so that when the LA ends, normies can just jump to the remake to get the continuation of the story until its end, without having to sit through toei's awful version for +1000 episodes.
I believe iñaki godoy learned japanese just for this reason, he's going to voice luffy in that version, since the current VA are already old as fuck.
