I always figured they tasted like those purple puffball clover flowers out in the yard. I loved to eat those. You could pick them and then pick each frond and suck the end of it and it was like 100% sugary nectar. The only reason you wouldn't want to stuff the whole thing in your mouth, going on personal experience, is you just get a lot of green plant matter in with your slightly perfumed nectar nibbles and if you're a little kid off fucking around in the grass eating plants you may as well just eat the best bits

The water tasted like water with dirt in it. I was an intensely stoopid boy, and I made myself very sick by drinking that contaminated water. On the bright side, I didn't get sick very much after that.
