No, that was part of his speech to get her to agree to the bribe.
>I'm not the guy you kill, I'm the guy you buy are you so fucking blind you don't even see what I am?
In one stroke he gets her to admit to the car-bombing and the assassination of Arthur.

one of the best parts of the movie actually. you can't even depict a brush with divine providence anymore without some sperg going BUT THAT'S NOT REALISTIC. it is realistic. happens to people all the time.

Was his character supposed to come across as a creeper? I know he's a good guy but the girl he was watching should've been more creeped out by him. Everyone should've. He didn't come across as a sweet old man, more like a weird diddler rapist. Why was he so crazy?

I'll go one further than >>213579591 here. It's not only realistic, it's inevitable. The fact that you call it even kinda retarded just means you haven't had it happen to you yet. Doesn't have to be you driving down the backroads, doesn't have to be horses. Just you taking the time to be present.

Arthur's relationship with Anna Kasiersan is implied, and yeah it doesn't make a lot of sense. After his psychotic break and harassing Anna in the deposition room, she had no believable reason to take his calls. The only way it works, which wasn't shown to us, is if he said something in his deranged state to the effect of
>I believe you
or something in her support, as he was defending unorth against her claims that their product killed people. And even then, entertaining a phone call from the 50+ year old guy who stripped naked and ran through a parking lot just doesn't skin unless she has an explicit thing for older men.

i'm afraid you got conditioned by feminism to see male sexuality as pathological. men never stop being attracted to young girls, when you're 70 you will still look at 18yos and it will choke you how pretty they are and how much you want them but can't have them. in this case he basically fell in love with a young girl, knew he had no chance with her as a man, and redirected those energies into championing her cause instead. it's an act of impossible unrequited love and i find it incredibly relatable.

I don't think they got that far. Her conversation with Michael - "I got on a plane," while looking sheepish - I always got from that that was the first time they would have met in person since the deposition.

i interpret it as him sublimating his impossible sexual desire into this quest for justice. it's a feature of male love madness. "she won't even look at me but i will build bridges and skyscapers in her name and maybe one day she will realize it was all for her." you won't get it if you haven't been there.

>Was his character supposed to come across as a creeper?
no, he's supposed to come off as a manic bipolar with no control over his emotions and has gotten himself into a crazy situation. We don't see their relationship develop so for all we know she could be a gold digger or small town girl with little experience with mentally unstable people who sees him as a successful, intelligent and mature man who has finally found true love and is unable to control himself because of it. Just about everyone in the story is in some deep shit situation that they have no control over and ends up ruining their lives in some way. Clayton himself has issues with gambling, his restaurant failing and obviously the general plot of the film. Arthur has the big case, the girl and his chronic addiction to bread.

HBO kino, the manic episode with the lawyer was a great depiction of a breakout. Then his displays of legal knowledge shows why he was allowed to have access to so much privileged information. This movie, shooter with mark Wahlberg and the Robin Williams becomes the president
are the trifecta for making it look like a suicide.
