Bubbles no doubt got admittedly more annoying as time went on. The character got more screen time, the low cadence of his voice and the calm demeanour he had in his early appearances coupled with his odd and humorous look got replaced by an over anxious grunting retard whose voice got raspier and him getting irritating as time went on. Mike got more and more control over the writing especially after Clattenburg and Dunn left the series and that's when the tone and humour of the show shifted to centre around dick jokes and how many variations and funny ways you can say the word "cock", I checked out too. My cut off point is around season five with some dips up to season seven once in a while. Season four has a small dip in quality with the Steve French and final episodes being series highlights but season five comes back with a vengeance and is just banger after banger episode. It peaked in season five.
