A lot of nerds seem to be arguing that Zach Cregger making the new Resident Evil is some kind of game changer because he made Barbarian and Weapons. But... isn't Event Horizon counted as one of the greatest horror movies ever made? When they made the original RE movie they hired the guy who had made Mortal Kombat and Event Horizon. Showing he had a strong grasp of videogame adaptation and horror as a genre.

Also, when did people start pretending that the original RE movie is bad? It's a really good movie. It revived the zombie genre, not 28 Days Later. The only reason the RE reboot has a budget of 65 million is because the original RE film was a big success and it spawned a stream of even more successful sequels.

Paul once said in an interview that "You're only as good as your last movie". If you fall off the wagon, people will start pretending all your incredibly good and influential movies didn't exist and/or sucked.
