Problems with Godzilla Minus One:

1. The whole thief who adopts and orphan baby then gets together with MC thing is so weird. Why not just make FMC a widow? There were lots of widowed women with children in post-war Japan.

2. Having MC survive his attack run on Godzilla by jumping out in parachute. The WHOLE MOVIE is about MC regretting his lack of courage to carry out a kamikaze mission like his friends. Having him kamikaze against Godzilla would be the correct conclusion to that arc.

3. FMC survives and gets a shitty plot hook. Way to undermine her death, and the movie's ability to stand on its own.

The whole message of the film is that Japs killing themselves and throwing away an entire generation of men for a retarded war they shouldn't have been in was fucking stupid. Him choosing not to an hero is what the ENTIRE film is leading to. God you're fucking retarded.

>1. The whole thief who adopts and orphan baby then gets together with MC thing is so weird. Why not just make FMC a widow? There were lots of widowed women with children in post-war Japan.
Having the child be a random orphan that they both agree to take care of further emphasizes the movie's portrayal of DUTY.
>2. Having MC survive his attack run on Godzilla by jumping out in parachute. The WHOLE MOVIE is about MC regretting his lack of courage to carry out a kamikaze mission like his friends. Having him kamikaze against Godzilla would be the correct conclusion to that arc.
No his arc is to realize that while Duty is important in the Japanese way of life, Duty for the sake of Duty is not meaningful. There may have been some purpose to kamikaze missions in warfare (the enemy needs to be stopped, rescue efforts for pilots surviving via parachute behind enemy lines was not viable, etc) but in this case Godzilla could be stopped with this one attempt of a bomb-loaded bomb. Why would he have needed to die?
>3. FMC survives
I think this was a nice cathartic ending to the movie. The MC had been getting his shit pushed in by Life left and right throughout the whole movie to the point it almost felt surreal. Not just godzilla but people were slapping the shit out of him and chewing him out I think having the most glorious thing happen to him with her still being alive felt great as a viewer.
>and gets a shitty plot hook
This is the only part I agree with

Well, yes, but I don't see how that has anything to do with my point.
