Anime endings usually suck ass, I can't really think of one I enjoyed outside of death note.

Its a nice ending ofc the weebs wanted moar so anno made EoE where all the characters die horribly and fapping to inanimate drawings happens. This is looking directly at the you, the viewer.

this was the official fan-appeasing excuse. but if you watch the rebuilds and how they end, it becomes clear this was the ending anno wanted, but it took him all this time to understand what was missing from the first version
