The closest thing to the feather theory even has to hope is that the baby or very young rexes had feathers, but even that has no actual real-life evidence to support it, unlike the skin impressions of the juvenile and older Rex showing not only do they not have feathers, they don't even have something that shows there would have at one point been feathers there at all.
