she was a witch, anon. The movie was fun but had holes like a swiis cheese. Why was the witch in the middle of the forest with the junkie? What was her relationship with the mother, why was she even allowed to stay? In the begining it said they were never found ever again but they do reunite with their parents at the end... it was confusing, but it was a fun watched. Worth it

Taunting someone she thought is vulnerable, probably was expecting them to come to her house and prepared to hypnotize them. She obviously has powers beyond hypnosis, manifesting in dreams and such (possibly even accidentally, like her spirit getting projected in people's dreams cause of the magic she is doing for other reasons).

Well she is supposedly her older sister but they never interacted much. They probably felt bad for a frail old lady with nowhere to go, especially technically being a relative, and let her stay. I think she probably an actual relative (considering Alex was able to use her blood magic thing) but not an older sister, but like some ancient ancestor from 300 years ago or something. She probably kept herself alive with magic all those years and pretended to be various family members through the years.
