Finally had the time to torrent pic related. After checking the ratings I was expecting zombie kino but what I got was a movie I was close to turn off half way through. It's been ages since I felt that urge to just alt+f4, del a movie while watching. Holy fuck. It's not even just imdb who grossly overrated it, rotten is also mostly praising it. So many things about it sucked ass:
Random flashbacks so middle ages, blurry shots, over saturated, the story, acting, iodine, pile of bones, zombie pregnancy, alphas, fat zombies, the clowns in the end.
What was good?
Nothing, not even the music. I get it tho, it is clearly an old franchise revived for zoomers and Gen alpha. Hence the high rating. I'm just glad I didn't spend money on that garbage.

Crazy to me that you list this as a bad thing when they were great but ok.
I agree that the movie is a mess though. Some good ideas and lots of stupid ideas.

Yeah it's weird seeing people get filtered by fun creative decisions like the old war footage etc. It's what makes Danny Boyle films so interesting.

The only people I can think of who loved 28 Years Later either haven't seen many movies (or entertainment for that matter) or they're contrarians. The movie is a complete mess with horrible pacing and very basic ideas masqueraded as "deep". I still believe that Danny Boyle didn't want to make this but for whatever reason did it anyway and made it a complete shitshow solely for his own amusement. You know it's bad when even 28 Weeks Later is better.

I genuinely thought it was a great movie. I’m honestly surprised at the amount of vitriol directed at this film from some quarters, maybe it’s politically motivated from Christian’s who think the ending was sacrilegious or something, idk, but I don’t really care about that.

I thought the action/suspense sequences were very well done. The editing style and soundtrack were unconventional, sure, but I liked that, and I found the climax to be genuinely emotional.

Unironically I thought it was the best new movie I’ve seen in the last few years.

I thought it was pretty plodding and dull. When they first came along, I thought these guys were embarrassingly stupid, but on reflection, I'm quite looking forward to Bone Temple. Even if it's not actually good, it at least looks like it's going to swing at something, which 28YL really didn't.
DAE not really even get Spike's decision not to go home?

>DAE not really even get Spike's decision not to go home?
wouldn't he have been exiled anyways because he repeatedly clowned all over the community for his own selfish desires?
>burned down shed full of loot and signs saying to share and be nice with the supplies
>snuck out himself and another person against the rules
>left a dramatic irony infected baby that will inevitably topple the community and peaced out without facing accountability, again
>his dad follows him and leaves the village an actual useful man short
it wouldn't be unreasonable if they just shot arrows if/when they see him again, he's a retarded brat from their pragmatic post apoc perspective

It has nothing to do with that. It's just a nonsensical story. Bad cinematography, very unoriginal undead encounters etc. What's with the blur all the time. It's not artistic it's more annoying than Michael Bay lens flare.

I wouldn't call it nitpicking when the whole setup of the story is bullcrap and more unbelievable than Schindlers list.

The only people I've seen who didn't like the movie are complete autists. I mean that sincerely, people with such narrow creative interest they can't handle even the slightest experimental creativity in their movies. You're a good example.

I guess, but we don't really have anything to support that and the film made it seem like this momentous decision he made.
Be funny if Bone Temple had a subplot where the islanders are all trying to Wicker-Man him.

OP here. I thought they were going to pull out uzis and shoot 100 alphas like 28 weeks later but was a bit disappointed with what we got. I thought the skull pile was going to be from a really badass zombie killer guy who would put his fingers into each zombies eyes (like in the other movies!) But it was just a normal guy so yeahh the story didn't make sense. What da helly

I expected a very subversive zombie movie because of Boyle/Garland and that's exactly what I got. The cinematography alone was worth it, never has a post-apocalypse looked that intimate. I'm worried about the sequel though because of DaCosta, her resume is terrible.

Overall good yes, but I was disappointed with the end result of pic related. Where they might as well just be cutting between different angles around the zombie, it rotates so fast and looks so choppy that what was the point of including all the frames and angles in between?

If you removed the albino power rangers from the end the review score would probably jump a full point. That filtered out a lot of normalfags. I say this as someone who hated the movie from beginning to end.

Yeah he's a kid having to work out his adult morality on his own in a world that is fucking bananas. Rightly or wrongly he's rejected his father, his mum's dead, and he's gone from a highly structured rules-based society to a world where those rules don't make any sense. This is all normal but exaggerated examples of what lots of kids go through btw. You'd think 4channers would get that given that it's got a "fuck the lot of you" culture. Also Freud is right, some of you will learn that ultimately.
