Some will be a waste of time, others will open up more hidden opportunities that does have a direct and immediate benefit, and for some the benefit is tiny short term but massive long term.
The problem is of course, that some opportunities can be scams or outright harmful so you do need to have discretion in what you say yes to. But if you automatically assume that's true for any and every opportunity, then you shut your self off from the world. So your default answer should be yes to any opportunity unless you see red flags, especially if your natural inclination is to assume everything is a scam, a lie or trying to take advantage of you.
