I rewatched A New Hope recently and it's surprising how little happens. There are like 4 different locations, and one shitty light saber battle. The prequels absolutely mog it.

The difference is that ANH has good characters, some good performances, stylish space hardware and decor, and a story that, while simple, speaks to our imagination and sense of tradition. And the prequels and have none of these things, barring one good performance from McDiarmid as the Emperor, a character on loan from the superior OT.
