>>213638563 (OP) he is a slave the whole way out. He has a master right up until he takes control of his life at the very end with the help of his son. First watto, then the Jedi and finally the emperor. Vader knew nothing but slavery.
>>213638563 (OP) The prequels indicate he's also a real dumbass.

>>213638563 (OP) Apparently he never used the force until the meeting
>>213638563 (OP) they retcon him into being the emperor's right hand man in the second one and that's what people remember. but yes, in the first one he's just some ex-jedi that betrayed his order and now he's stuck working as some bureaucrat's muscle

I rewatched A New Hope recently and it's surprising how little happens. There are like 4 different locations, and one shitty light saber battle. The prequels absolutely mog it.
>>213638563 (OP) >"I had a dream I was a Jedi. I came back here and freed all the slaves." Dude was serving someone almost his entire life, Watto or Obi-wan or Palpatine. He just couldn't shake it. A series of masters for the man born a slave and died in a master's superweapon.
>>213642433 The difference is that ANH has good characters, some good performances, stylish space hardware and decor, and a story that, while simple, speaks to our imagination and sense of tradition. And the prequels and have none of these things, barring one good performance from McDiarmid as the Emperor, a character on loan from the superior OT.

Then yes

And I left out a lot. Wtf more do you need? Not enough explosions or something? I really don't understand what more you'd need, and the pacing is perfect there's no boring spots.
>>213638563 (OP) He gets promoted to fleet commander in ESB and becomes a turbo cunt killing his subordinates left and right.
