Now that the dust has settled, who was in the wrong?

How would you rewrite the movie so that it is more culturally sensitive for today's climate that is less bigoted against aliens?

Why did Tim Burton waste so much of the budget on all these celebrities that barely had any roles? I am sure that he could easily get away with 10 mil instead of 100 mil, so it wouldn't be such a massive bomb.

I agree, in that sense it is quite avant-garde for its time.
I remember not liking the movie at all. It was a kind of convoluted, editing mess.

If only Marcia Lucas was there in the editing room, she could've saved the movie like she saved Star Wars.

I love the trading cards and the comics, but the movie is just awful. The effects are terrible, the acting is wooden, the pacing and story are all over the place. I donโ€™t think any of these can be brushed off with โ€œbut itโ€™s a comedy! Itโ€™s a satire!โ€ The movie is just flat out boring and annoying, like an 8 year old who has learned a new joke and keeps telling it to you again and again and again and again.

Of course it was. You don't shoot a film on an $80 million budget in 1990s money thinking you're going for a sophisticated niche audience.

This cost more than Independence Day, more than Goldeneye, more than Jurassic Park.

Jurassic Park sucks. The early dino scenes are shocking, yes, so good that they're shocking, the but BAD acting from the kids ruin it.

Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that the best thing about the movie was the Tom Jones song? That was the first time we heard Tom Jones, when we watched this movie as little girls (like me), or little boys.
