Reservoir Dogs and Jackie Brown are good. Pulp Fiction, The Hateful Eight and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood are ok. Death Proof and Inglourious Basterds are mid. Kill Bill and Django are horseshit.

kill bill and django were supposed to be kung fu and western revenge flicks for women/children and niggers respectively, of course you didn't like them. it's like bitching that gordon ramsay served some waterheads microwaved burritos instead of cooking

It's not about contrarianism, is his better written and more mature film by a long shot. I still prefer Reservoir Dogs personally, but thinking it's worse like dogshit as Kill Bill or Django it's just gay. I also believe it has aged way better than Pulp Fiction in terms of music score, screen play and overall acting.

>better written and more mature film
It isn't better written than Reservoir Dogs, it meanders and is filled with flat performances, and "mature" is just you being a pseud using buzzwords.

>It isn't better written than Reservoir Dogs
Mr. White character makes no sense in a narrative perspective: he defends Mr. Orange after just a short time knowing him against the two men he's been working for years. He doesn't even mention the fact that Mr. Orange killed an innocent woman as a prove that he wasn't a cop. Also Joe figuring out who the rat was by instinct was bullshit, they should've done that he noticed a flaw on Mr. Orange's fake backstory instead, but that entire story arc was filler in the end. I'm saying all this while still picking it as my favourite QT film, but Jackie Brown is clearly better written and more grounded.

>Mr. White character makes no sense in a narrative perspective
Yes it does, retard. He should have retired after his last job (where he almost got caught) and has a feeling of being jinxed because he's slowing down. He takes Mr. Orange under his wing in an archetypal relationship commonly seen in crime movies (see the relationship between Donnie Brasco and Lefty).
>against the two men he's been working for years
It's set up in the plot that the people involved in the job don't have close relationships with one another and Mr. White is going through a crisis of confidence which you obviously missed somehow.

Wtf are you talking about? I rewatched the film last week and none of this ever happens.
>It's set up in the plot that the people involved in the job don't have close relationships with one another
Explain Mr. Blonde scene with Eddie and Joe then. Him and Mr. White are shown to have a long, stable and trust worthy relationship with Joe.

He expresses reservations about going on the job in the movie because he was almost arrested on his last one, dummy. He thinks he's jinxed.
>Explain Mr. Blonde scene with Eddie and Joe then
Mr. Blonde is a psychopath and the fact Joe/Eddie are more friendly with him indicates to the audience that they're not particularly honorable, let alone good, people. This is in contrast to Mr. White.

You suck at interpreting character, anon.

All his movies are completely and intentionally derivative. Dude thinks movies started in 1965 and ended in 1979 and exclusively makes homages to movies he watched growing up.

Or maybe he wasn't on the job and they wanted to persuade him into getting in? I think you're overthinking too much some aspects that aren't that relevant. Sure, Mr. White thought he was jinxed, but that doesn't explain how he trusts Mr. Orange so much. An archetype isn't good if it doesn't get fleshed out, it's even said in the movie that they didn't get to know each other more until the heist was over, so they had just like half hour while Mr. Orange was just screaming for his life. It's a decently written movie, but my love to it doesn't come for the script mostly, unlike with Jackie Brown which is its main appeal.

>Or maybe he wasn't on the job and they wanted to persuade him into getting in?
Mr. Blonde had done time for Joe/Eddie underscoring their close relationship. Mr. White dislikes Mr. Blonde and saw him as a psychopath because he randomly started murdering civilians when the alarm went off. Mr. White takes Mr. Orange's side because Joe/Eddie were siding with someone he saw as a psychopath vs. a guy he had formed a bond with (again, archetypal relationship as seen in other crime movies like Donnie Brasco (literally an old con/young rat dynamic).
>Mr. White thought he was jinxed, but that doesn't explain how he trusts Mr. Orange so much
See above. It's also mentioned that Mr. White had lost his previous partner (Alabama from True Romance) indicating he was lonely.

Jackie Brown isn't better written than Reservoir Dogs and the fact you missed so much about the characters involved indicates you're a pseud parroting contrarianism.

Joe's been in the business for a long time, he always had his suspicions and just connected the dots. Movies don't need to be pedantic and explain every little thing to the audience.

>WTF is he doing all the time?
No filmmaker, regardless of how successful he is, can just make whatever movie he wants. It takes a ton of backing to get movies made. Look at how many projects James Cameron, literally the biggest filmmaker in the world, was attached to, which never came to fruition. The Hollywood machine decides what gets greenlit, not filmmakers.

I didn't miss anything about what you posted. I was just asking for more screen time with the two talking or working together before the heist, instead of the whole fake backstory that wasn't necessary to last that long if it wasn't gonna turn back at the end, since we got "muh instinct". I wonder what do you think about Jackie Brown's characters, since for example Louis is a much better and fun character to watch than Mr. White, and they share a lot of traits. Ordell might be my favourite QT character.

Yeah you did. You didn't understand the motivations behind Mr. White's character and didn't notice how Mr. Blonde's relationship with Joe and (especially) Eddie informed the plot/White's character arch.
>Louis is a much better and fun character to watch
He's boring and flat. His character works for comedic scenes but a lot of the comedy in Jackie Brown doesn't land because things are so meandering and dull. Most people don't even notice certain things are supposed to be funny because the movie's tone is off. Look at other Elmore Leonard adaptations (like Get Shorty) and see how the comedy comes through because the characters actually have life to them.
