The scene reinforces my belief that comedy can never be funny if the comedian himself finds his jokes funny. All the good comedy is made by people who don't even know if a single person will laugh until they show it to the public.
When you find yourself just so hilarious, this is what happens. Very low unfunny scene that just drags on and on. Comedians sniffing their own farts. The scene has the same energy as some dipshit friends filming a home video in their basement and uploading it to youtube thinking they filmed the funniest shit in the world.
If they didn't sniff their own farts and were scrutinizing their own comedy, this may have been cut down to a 1 minute scene that is funny, instead you have 4 and a half minutes of Billy Crystal doing improv while the actors try not to laugh and pretty much ruin the scene because it looks like they are watching their friend perform and don't react in a comedic way.
