Or is it just another one of those “Kimba/Lion King” situations where weebs accuse anything non-Japanese as a copy of Japan?

the production company that made black swan bought the rights to perfect blue so they couldn't sue

all debates of plagiarism aside, what are your thoughts on both movies independently from each other?

I remember BR2049 copying a scene from Irresponsible Captain Tylor.

The DaVinci code is almost 1:1 a scene ripoff of Indiana Jones Last Crusade.

That never actually happened. Arronofsky himself said he never bought the rights. He is still a fan of Perfect Blue who maybe homage'd a little too much.

I've seen both. There's possible influence there, but it's not even close to a ripoff. The more I think about it, the less they're alike. The only thing they have in common is some superficial imagery. The context isn't usually even the same.

I wouldn't say it's a blatant ripoff but both movies are about a seemingly inocent girl who turns out to be mentally ill and ultimately the source of mayhem around her. It may not be a scandalous robbery but it's too similar aesthetically and thematically for me to call it a hommage as well
